Throughout this project, I learned how to assemble materials that were new to me. For example, I've never worked with a project that is associated with hinges, so this project allowed me to expand my knowledge as far as learning new things about power tools and materials.
WHAT I CREATED
The project piece that my group and I created for the Museum of Contemporary Art project, was a Music Box. It is a piece made up of three, six foot plywood walls painted black, in which have four slits cut into them. Our Music Box is supposed to resemble the association that perception has with music. We had one student playing live music on his guitar, while the other group members stood outside the box and welcomed the visitors. Along with explaining the piece, they asked that the visitors took a note card and wrote how the live music being played made them feel, and to then insert it into the labeled insert slit in the box. The students welcoming and explaining the projects also went into the box and taped the cards to be displayed outside the box through the slits. Personally, I am glad that we decided to follow this idea for our piece after seeing it finalized in a Museum, because I think that it was very unique and gives the viewer and different point of view to connect to perception.
OVERALL THOUGHTS
Overall, I think I presented well at exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, but I will still continue to practice and work on I think I could have presented better in my participation throughout this project, because I have shown better work in this area in the past, so I know that I am capable of doing more. I will work on this in the future.
EXHIBITION AT MCASD
Lauren Zirinsky Carol Cabrera Humanities October 21, 2019 Exhibition at MCASD At the exhibition, I visited variable pieces created by my peers, and I was extremely impressed. Every piece was made and looked extremely professionally and were all a unique was to represent the association that perception has with many things. My favorite piece that I viewed, was a piece called Hostile Conditions. This piece showed how there are so many uncensored information, news, theories, etc. In my opinion, the best speaker who displayed organization & clarity of ideas, pace, volume, prosody and physicality, was Lyric Chavez. She knew the answer to every question I had regarding her project, along with knowing every piece of information about her project, and I find that to be very valuable.
